Meet our Coaches - Coach Michael

Our Borussia Academy Singapore coaches are highly qualified and love to work with young players of all ages and abilities. Want to get to know them a little better? Introducing Borussia Academy football coach Michael!

Hi Michael or should we say g’day mate? Care to share a few bio details with us?
Michael Crecca age 50 years from Sydney, Australia.

You’ve been with Borussia Academy for over 5 years now. Tell us what made you join Borussia and what drives your passion for football?
I've always had a passion for football from a very young age and started playing when I was around 5 years of age and I have been involved in the game in some form ever since. I joined Borussia because a friend of mine, Coach Guy who was working at Borussia recommended the academy and I was also really impressed by its football core values.

You’ve coached our B9 Div1 boys (now B10) to win the JSSL Championship last season. What do you think is important in working with players that age?
I think it's important for a coach to help the players first of all to enjoy their football especially at a young age and develop a passion for the game. My coaching style at times can seem quite animated but my goal is especially at matches to make the players feel comfortable,  not be afraid to make errors and just enjoy the experience. 

What’s your favourite Borussia moment to date?

Winning the B9 Div 1 title was a fantastic achievement for the boys on the back of our second place finish the previous season. It was so rewarding to see the boys be the champions of the highest division in their age category.

If you could meet any footballer who would you like to meet and why?

As an AC Milan fan one of my favourite players growing up was Marco Van Basten from Holland so I would have to say him for sure. He was a 3 time balon d'or winner and one of the best players in his generation.
