Johor Cup 2024 Plate Champions 08/2024

Borussia Academy Singapore Participates & Wins in First International Tournament at Johor Cup, Malaysia

From 17-18th August 2024 our teams participated in their first international tournament at the prestigious Johor Cup in Malaysia. Held at the scenic Marlborough College, the event provided a thrilling and unforgettable experience for both our young players and their supportive families.

Three of our teams, representing the B8, B10, and B12 age groups, took to the field proudly flying the flag for Borussia Academy Singapore. This tournament was not just about the competition but also an opportunity to showcase the values and spirit of Borussia Moenchengladbach and the Bundesliga, which our academy proudly embodies.

Our teams relentlessly fought throughout the tournament, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements:

• B8 Team: Finished 4th place in the Plate competition, showing immense potential and resilience.

• B10 Team: Crowned Plate Champions, their hard work and teamwork paid off as they brought home the trophy.

• B12 Team: Secured 3rd place in the Shield competition, demonstrating perseverance against tough opponents.

This tournament served as an excellent pre-season preparation for our teams and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents for their unwavering support and to our dedicated coaches for their guidance.

As we look ahead, we are excited about what the future holds for our young talents.

Meet our Coaches - Coach Remy 07/2024

Our Borussia Academy Singapore coaches are highly qualified and love to work with young players of all ages and abilities. Want to get to know them a little better? Introducing Borussia Academy football coach Remy!

Coach Remy has been coaching football since 2017 and has joined Borussia Academy in 2021. He is the heart of our Borussia Bambinis and girls teams - his passion and dedication inspire our young players every day and sessions are great fun.

Coach Remy what do you like best about working with our young players?

I enjoy seeing the players progress to the next level with the foundations that we lay at Borussia Academy.

What advice would you have for our young athletes?

My advice would be to A.C.E. it!

Adaptable, always be adaptable to different types of coaching methods.

Challenge, challenge your teammates in training but most importantly challenge yourself even if it’s a simple drill, ask yourself how can i be faster? Stronger? Consistently try to improve yourself!

Effort - The most difficult thing of all is putting in effort. Be early, pick up a ball and play or practice your juggling/shooting. You can be coached by the best coaches but if there’s no effort, there’s no progression!

Coach Remy what is your favourite Borussia moment to date?

There are many! I love seeing posts on social media of players that I’ve helped along the way.

If you could meet any player who would you like to meet?

I’d love to meet Cristiano Ronaldo - simply because he is the G.O.A.T.!

Special Visit by ARD Studio Singapore 06/2024

‘Are you guys following the Euro 2024 in Germany? Do you get up in the middle of the night to watch any of the games?’ You bet we do!

Earlier this week we received above message by ARD, the largest public broadcaster network in the world, originating in Germany.

We met up with ARD Studio Singapore producer Julia at our new home SkyPark @ Holland and some of our players, parents and coaches were interviewed.

Kudos to everyone involved, but especially our young players who did a fantastic job expertly answering each and every question relating to the Euro 2024 like a pro!

Special Football Camp with Coaches from Germany 06/2024

‘Off the charts levels of motivation, dedication and great football skills! It was wonderful to witness the amazing development of many players and we can’t wait to soon welcome some of them to our state-of-the-art Borussia Park training facilities in Germany.’ Coach Stegi

German Ambassador visits Borussia Academy

German Ambassador Dr. Norbert Riedel & Team paid a special visit to us and got to chat with our German Coaches and Players.

We spoke about our community outreach programs, our upcoming trip to Germany and while of course warmly embracing every nationality and culture, re-affirmed our ties to the German community in Singapore.

Our players also got to ask Dr. Riedel and GESS Principal Mr Pauli a few questions. Did you know that Mr Pauli is a supporter of infamous football club FC St. Pauli in Germany or that Dr. Riedel was fortunate enough to meet several players of the legendary German 1974 Worldcup team in person?

Both Dr. Riedel and Mr Pauli then joined our teams for a fast paced 5 v 5 football session and got to show off their excellent shooting skills during our penalty shoot out.

Thank you Dr. Riedel & Team and thank you Mr Pauli for being such great sports! Our players had a great time and we all agreed that team Germany will of course win the upcoming European Championship hosted by Germany this summer!

Tournament at Marlborough College Malaysia

First international competitive tournament for our U8/10/12 teams.

Borussia Academy Singapore and our Div 1 U8/U10 and U12 teams are heading to the Johor Cup held at Marlborough College Malaysia.

The tournament will take place on 17th and 18th August 2024. Parents and players are invited to join. Bus service and accommodation will be arranged by Borussia Academy.

They did it! CHAMPIONS!

After finishing last season as runner-ups, our B10 Div 4 and Coach Aidil (who couldn’t be there today) have won this year’s Championship. Congratulations to a well deserved season title and the promotion to Division 3!👏🏻👏🏻🎉

Another special mention goes out to our B11 Div 4 team who finished second in their division and through winning their playoffs managed to secure a promotion to Div3. Well done team & Coach Sadiq and as always, a big thank you to our amazing squad of parent cheerleaders. 📣
